JOB TITLE: Biology Director
DEPARTMENT: Discovery Biology
REPORTS TO: VP, Discovery Biology & Head of Translational Research
JOB SUMMARY:
We are currently building a new Discovery Biology team located in the San Francisco bay area in USA. We are seeking an outstanding scientific leader to be among the founding members of this new group. He/she will help build and lead the group to create its niche expertise within Asieris, conduct in-depth drug discovery or mechanistic research, and shape the direction of Asieris’ future drug discovery pipeline.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Help VP of Biology to set strategic direction of the US group within the global company
• Recruit Scientists and Research Associates to build the team; effectively lead the team to reach yearly goals
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive drug discovery projects, from target selection to candidate nomination
• Successfully propose new drug discovery projects, perform target validation studies, discover hits, and develop assays for compound evaluation
• Conduct mechanistic research and translational research to enhance “bench to bedside” success rate
• Help evaluating innovative technologies and new therapeutic modalities as needed
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
• Ph.D. degree in biological sciences with 10+ years of drug discovery experience, preferably in immunology or immuno-oncology
• Experience leading cross-disciplinary project team and excellent organizational skills to move activities across multiple drug discovery programs forward in a timely manner
• Demonstrated leadership abilities to inspire, direct and manage scientists
• Strong scientific and technical expertise in the design, execution, analysis, and interpretation of study results
• Strong English and Chinese verbal and written communication skills
• Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
